Australian radio station (ARN) has squashed all rumors that Kate Langbroek might reunite with Dave Hughes next year, revealing that the station has joined the KIIS network’s 3PM Pick Up.
Langbroek recently made a permanent appearance on Australian radio as part of the long-time Hughesy & Kate cast.
The duo hosted the National Drive Show on ARN from 2015 to 2017. They then moved on to the Southern Cross Austereo (SCA) hit network.
In 2019, Langbroek moved to Italy with her family and there has been much speculation about how, if at all, she would continue the Australian Drive show. It was then confirmed that she would actually broadcast all the way from Italy.
She was increasingly absent from the show, however, as Ed Kavalee took over the reckoning earlier this year, turning Hughesy & Kate into Hughesy & Ed. She continued to appear as a guest on the show.
Langbroek will be back at ARN next year and she said she was looking forward to her return.
« After our family adventures in Italy, I look forward to returning to great Australia – and ARN – and speaking my native language – radio -, » she said.
« I can’t wait to attend the 3:00 pm pickup. I missed overhearing conversations I can actually understand and hanging out with like-minded friends. So of course I’m really looking forward to working with these two Aperol spritzes, Monty and Yumi, for some fun and fun in the afternoon. What reminds me, I promise, I won’t be one of those angry people who come back from abroad with an accent and a whole new vocabulary. See you in 2021. grace. And ciao. ”
Duncan Campbell, ARN’s Chief Content Officer, said he looks forward to welcoming Langbroek back to the network.
« She is a seasoned broadcaster and will give the show a new perspective after her time in Italy. Kate has a kind of connection with listeners that sets her apart and we look forward to bringing the chemistry and dynamism to life between Kate, Monty and Yumi on the air, ”he added.
And Ciaran Davis, CEO of ARN, said: “Securing Kate is an absolute coup for ARN. She is a popular Australian personality who understands the importance of working with our clients for positive commercial results. We look forward to welcoming you back to Australia and especially back to ARN. ”
“Bec Judd made a fantastic contribution to 3PM Pick Up. We’ll miss the engaging conversation, real life anecdotes, and fun she brought to the show, but we wish her all the best in her next endeavor. ”
Kate will have the same problem as many other broadcasters in 2021. She’s going to have to find a new topic to talk about, regardless of how much she hates Donald Trump.
