The girlfriend of the Lindt Café terrorist cut nine years for the murder of the gunman’s wife.

The girlfriend of the siege shooter Man Monis from the Lindt Café was sentenced to 10 years for the murder of his wife.

The Court of Appeals on Thursday overturned Amirah Droudis’ 2017 ruling and sentenced her again to 35 years in prison with a 26-year, three-month sentence without parole.

Droudis was originally sentenced to 44 years without parole after being found guilty of stabbing Monis’ wife 18 times, pouring gasoline over her and setting her on fire in a Werrington unit in April 2013.

Both she and Monis were on bail when Monis took hostages during the siege of the Lindt Café in Martin Place in December 2014.

She had appealed the verdict because it was obviously exaggerated and she had committed the murder while under Monis’ control.

« While the applicant’s relationship with Monis did not diminish her moral guilt or the gravity of the crime, Monis’ death and the removal of his continued influence were relevant factors when considering personal deterrence, future threats and prospects the rehabilitation had to be taken into account, ”said Judges Tom Bathurst, Clifton Hoeben and Peter Hamill in their verdict on Thursday morning.

“There was nothing to suggest that the applicant’s continued observance of the Islamic faith made it more likely that she would engage in future criminal activities of the type for which she had been convicted. ”
