Salim Mehajer is on trial this week after allegedly violating an AVO granted on behalf of his ex-girlfriend while he was behind bars.

In December, it became known that his former partner Melissa ‘Missy’ Tysoe had reported allegations of domestic abuse by 34-year-old Mehajer to the police.

On 23. On December 31st, a judge issued a preliminary arrest order for violence that prevented the former deputy mayor of Auburn from contacting Ms. Tysoe, 31, unless through a lawyer.

Mr. Mehajer appeared before the Parramatta District Court on New Year’s Eve and pleaded not guilty to violating an AVO.

NSW police said in a statement that officials last week visited the property developer in jail where he was given a new trial.

« Auburn Police Area Command officers visited on Wednesday, Jan.. December, a correctional facility in Silverwater and presented a 34-year-old man with a notice of attendance in court for violating the prohibition / restriction in an AVO, « the statement said.

Mr Mehajer’s matter will be returned to Parramatta District Court on Thursday, where he will appear via video link.

He is currently on pre-trial detention after his bail was revoked in November on another matter.

In a statement dated Jan.. On December 18th, police confirmed that an investigation was underway into her allegations that she had been attacked by Mr. Mehajer.

« On Monday the 21st. On December 23, 2020, officials at the Auburn Police Area Command received reports that a 31-year-old woman was assaulted and threatened by a man she knew, « the statement said.

According to the AVO issued by the local court in Burwood, he must not pursue, harass, threaten or assault Ms. Tysoe or anyone she has a relationship with.

The order also states that Mr. Mehajer may not own a firearm as long as he is bound by the court ruling.
