A 46-year-old woman was charged with murder and arson which resulted in death following a house fire in Melbourne that killed two adults and a baby

Mohinder Singh, the truck driver at the center of the crash on Melbourne’s Eastern Freeway, was drug-rich and severely sleep deprived when he killed four police officers, new court documents show.

Singh, 48, pleaded guilty in Melbourne Magistrates’ Court today in the collision that killed police officers Glen Humphris, Kevin King, Lynette Taylor and Joshua Prestney in April.

His confession of guilt was accompanied by a series of new court documents showing how impaired he was in the run-up to the collision that mourned Victoria.

They also reveal that in the days following the crash, Singh spoke to his police officers at the hospital and said that all he was guilty of was a « bad, bad accident ». .

« I can still see them in front of my truck and tried to put the brakes on and I couldn’t stop, I couldn’t stop, » he said.

Singh pleads guilty to 10 charges, including four cases of culpable driving leading to death and drug trafficking and ammunition charges.

Today, Singh’s attorney, Peter Morrissey SC, apologized to the police officers’ families on behalf of his client.

« Mr Singh wants to make it clear that he is very sorry for the death of the four police officers, » said Mr Morrissey.

« You are innocent people, and he now pleads guilty, and we will be very respectful of the Supreme Court case.

« Although the Victoria Police Department has been hammering a little lately, we would like to mention the professionalism with which they conducted the investigation into this case under very emotional and difficult circumstances. «

On 22. On April 2nd, Chief Policeman Taylor and First Policeman Humphris ran over Richard Pusey for allegedly driving his Porsche at 149 kilometers per hour on the Eastern Freeway.

Two other officers – Senior Constable King and Constable Prestney – arrived at the scene and were in an emergency lane when a truck driven by Singh pulled into the lane and killed all four.

Mr. Pusey faces eleven charges, including reckless behavior that endangers life, possesses a drug of dependence, and outrages public decency. He was ordered to stand before the Victoria District Court, where he vowed to clear his name.

Today the court learned that another man charged with manslaughter in the crash, trucking manager Simiona Tuteru, is planning to challenge the allegations against him.

With Singh’s admission of guilt, new details have emerged about the events that led to the fatal crash.

Court documents show that before the incident, Singh had « significant levels of fatigue and impairment » due to drug use and lifestyle.

The day before the crash and after exiting a Thomastown depot, Singh pulled over the prime mover he was driving and injected methylamphetamine.

One man told investigators that Singh, also named Matt, had the « nod, » which refers to drifting away after using drugs.

« I told him desperately. I told him he had a deadly weapon. I used these words. I told him that if he didn’t sleep, he would kill someone, « said the man.

On the morning of the crash, Singh told a colleague that he was not feeling well and that he had nodded off.

« He said the witches are coming and we have to go. I’ve never seen anyone as a drug user in my life, « he said.

Dramatic testimonies now show that other drivers were concerned about Singh in the run-up to the collision.

A witness who was out on the Eastern Freeway that night told investigators that he saw a truck « dive » into the emergency lane three or four times.

As he approached the curve at the Bulleen Road exit, he saw Singh’s truck pull into the emergency lane completely before spanning the first and second lanes of the freeway.

« This guy is going to kill someone, » the man said to his mother, with whom he spoke hands-free.

After the crash, the black box of Singh’s truck in Australia and Sweden was examined, which revealed that reactive braking was likely not attempted until the moment of impact.

After the crash, Singh was taken to the Royal Melbourne Hospital and spoke to his police officers.

« Why did they have to be there, why didn’t they get out of the way, » said Singh.

« I can’t drive, I’m scared, I’ll fall asleep. That’s all I was guilty of, a bad, bad accident. «

« I was tired, couldn’t sleep because I saw this witch – that put me under a spell, » he said.

He later told investigators during his police interview, « I can still see her in front of my truck and I tried to brake her and I couldn’t stop, I couldn’t stop it. « . «

A fatigue expert now believes Singh only slept five hours in the three days prior to the crash.
