Two children are dead and three people injured after a driver crashed into them before fleeing to NSW Central West on Tuesday.
Police believe a car hit about four people on Warne Street in Wellington, south of Dubbo. 30 o’clock.
Paramedics from NSW Ambulance treated an adult and four children on site, but two of the children later died.
The adult and two other children were admitted to the hospital – one in severe condition.
The driver of the affected vehicle left the scene before speaking to the authorities, NSW police said.
According to one report, at least two helicopters and up to 10 rescue workers crashed.
Officials from the Orana Mid-Western Police District have set up a crime scene that is being investigated by the Crash Investigation Unit’s special police.
