Port Adelaide has received a major boost as star midfielder Ollie Wines has signed a new deal that will see him stay at the club until 2026.
Wines’ current contract expired at the end of the 2022 season, but extending that contract by four years ensures that he will play with the Power for his entire career.
The contract extension ends years of speculation about the future of the 26-year-old. A number of Victorian clubs are keen to lure him back to his home state.
Wines stated that the lure of Premiership success with a talented young core made it easy to renew his contract with the club.
« I was just too happy to jump on it. The club is in such a strong position and in order for me to be locked away for the indefinite future and to be a part of it, I’m very excited about it, « Wines told portadelaidefc. com. ouch.
« It probably brings some rumors to bed swirling around me and makes me focus on my football and do what I have to do to have a blast every year.
« I’m so excited to be part of this young, developing group and I’m excited to see what we can do together over the next five to ten years. «
Wines had a strong season for Port Adelaide in 2020. They played 17 games and an average of 21. 8 exits per game.
