. .

We saw a lot of hip-hop and street dance in this category in this series. There’s more here, albeit mixed with commercial and contemporary. You start on the roof of an augmented reality skyscraper. Lots of ground work and synchronization side by side, some impressive elevators and sharp movements around town. Lots of content, well executed. Good outfits, mind you.

judge ???? Comments: Craig says: ???? G. . Ö. ONE. T, darling. « Then you have to spell out what it means, which is uncomfortable, » says Shirley: « Great choreography, exact timing, you are a great lifter, you dance with humanity and humility, you lift them all up. « Spirits. one???? Motsi sums up: « I felt this music through you, we felt what you felt. « . â ????

judge ???? Score: 10, 10, 10 for a total of 30 points. Perfect result for the first time in this series. There has never been one this early.

Last week’s leaderboards now. He’s been going through a transformation in the past three weeks, but they have all been quick, upbeat dances. Now that Jamie is back on hold, can he continue his rapid improvement? A chess theme that is very Queen’s Gambit. It takes too long to get started, but sharp and staccato when it comes to it. Jamie’s bum is sticking out, could kneel lower and get that V-shaped hold, but it hits the bossy vibe. Great crescendo and dramatic storytelling. Shouting « come on! » in the end that’s a bit much.

judge ???? Comments: Motsi says, « You’re so contagious, you kept it up, improved shoulder line, focus, footwork a little late at times, but loads of attacks. « . one???? Craig says: « The lead was questionable but the mood was brilliant. « . « Shirley says, » Polite and refined, lovely connection, but work on your musicality, the sky’s the limit. â ????

« The show literally starts, » says Tess. You recover from last week’s samba and turn a happy jive into a feel-good hymn. Tina Turner turns 81 this week. Birthday celebrated so they hope to mark it with a return to form. Unfortunately, she stumbles right at the beginning of the routine, but is recovering well. Might be lighter on their feet, on the balls, as this looks a little flat and lumpy. A little messy, a few mistakes, but a lot of energy.

judge ???? Comments: Shirley says, « Hit and Miss, some of it was brilliant, there were mistakes and you got lost, but you took it like a pro. « . one???? Motsi says, « I got goosebumps, the right amount of energy, you brought it back. « . one???? Craig says, « In the beginning you lost your balance and it made you shaky. You must be higher in your toes, lost your footing, forgotten the routine, but much better than last week. « . That was your dance, it just went terribly wrong. â ????

judge ???? Score: 6, 6, 7 for a total of 19 points. Adrenaline got me, says Clara. Dance-off danger.

Here come the seven surviving couples. The costume includes Clara Amfo in a sixties dress, Bill Bailey as a rocker and JJ Chalmers in a kilt. Drafty.

No, Anton du Beke this week (sorry, Tony Beak-ettes) so we say hello to the paddle trio of Craig Revel Horwood, the returning Motsi Mabuse (who wears a metallic dress) and Chief Judge Shirley Ballas.

Time for our weekly co-host rating ???? Couture. Tess Daly is in a purple sequin one shoulder frocl. Claudia Winkleman wears a white pussy bow blouse and black pants. Claudia wins.

We have already lost five of these pairs. Jacqui Smith and Jason Bell feel long ago.

JJ Chalmers apparently battled a leg infection related to the splinter wounds he sustained while in Afghanistan.

Double dance-off survivor Maisie Smith must be in danger again. After two weeks of Latin American party dancing, she’s back on hold for a light, frothy quick step.

JJ Chalmers tries a kilted Viennese waltz (be careful to fly up during these spins) and could be at risk too.

This evening’s couple’s choice routine comes from HRVY and Janette Manrara, who will combine the street with advertising and the contemporary in an energetic routine that should show its strengths.

Bookmaker ???? Favorite Bill Bailey will move from New York to Paris for a jump. jive. Ranvir Singh, whose chances have dropped after last week’s sizzling Argentine tango, is now glamorous for a classic American smooth, while Jamie Laing wipes his grin off for a moody tango.

In the Blackpool Tribute Special last week, the leadership changed hands again. The fifth leader in five weeks was arguably the most surprising when Jamie Laing danced to an almost perfect 29 points. Under the guidance of professional partner Karen Hauer, with whom he has formed a close team, Jamie has made leaps and bounds in the three weeks since his dance-off fear. Surprisingly, it was the first time Karen topped the standings in her nine series on the show.

At the bottom of the board was Clara Amfo, her misfiring samba heavily marked, but the voices of the audience came to her rescue. Instead, the dreaded dance-off was played by Caroline Quentin and Maisie Smith, who fell into the bottom two places for the second time in a row. She duly saved her salsa game, which meant that we waved a sad farewell to Caroline and her partner Johannes Radebe. They left us with a fireman Cha Cha and a slightly outrageous arm lick.

We’re halfway through Strictly 2020 and we’re on the home stretch. Our magnificent seven are secretly starting to see this glittering glitter ball trophy.

Every week the stakes rise and our celebrity couples train harder than ever. There are reports from the rehearsal rooms of strenuous 13-hour days. Yes, strictly fame costs. And this is where you start paying. In sweat.

This weekend Judge Motsi Mabuse will be back from quarantine and ready to take her place back from Anton Du Beke. Has the popular king of the ballroom secured a future position on the podium with his well-received two-week stay?
