. . Steps' brand new album What The Future Holds is out now. and the latest material from Claire Richards, Faye Tozer-Smith, Lee Latchford-Evans, Lisa Scott-Lee and Ian 'H' Watkins could be their best yet. Read more about heat.

. .

Just when the nation’s morale was at its lowest in September, five unlikely faces decided to step in and work together to save 2020. Where Boris Johnson, Rishi Sunak and Co. . Claire Richards, Faye Tozer, Lee Latchford-Evans, Lisa Scott-Lee and Ian ‘H’ Watkins arguably managed to win the nation’s faith.

Yep – Steps were back, their new single What The Future Holds was a ball-to-the-wall BANGER and things took a sharp upward trend when they announced a tour in 2021.

Well, a few months later, the band’s album of the same name was finally released. and we can happily attest that it is amazing.

So, so brilliant. And who better to talk to us about than the band themselves?

We caught up with Steps before their new release – three years after the group’s last album, Tears on the Dancefloor – to get all the Goss and Insider tidbits on each track.

Claire: « These are very new, classic steps. It’s one of the songs on the album that brings Steps into the now, but it has all the elements of the Steps that everyone knows. that big, euphoric chorus.

« It was written by Sia and we are very lucky to have this on the album. We hope we did it right. «

Faye: « This is our pure, unadulterated pop track. The club festival. It’s very different from what the future holds, but it gives you all of those positive vibes. We were blown away by how well it was received and it will be a big tour. «

H: « I have footage of myself behind the scenes on the video that is splitting my pants. I do a squat and my cock and balls are hanging around. «

H: « My children love clouds. That song reminds me of Better Best Forgotten; On tour I would like to do a mash-up of it with Clouds. «

Lisa: « This one was co-written by Mollie King. It’s a great feel-good song with very optimistic lyrics. That is exactly what we all need now. «

H: « We would like to invite MNEK – who also wrote it – to do this with us on tour. That would be great. How cool would that be? He can be the sixth member of Steps at The O2. Everyone tweets it and makes it happen. «

Lee: « This was written by Ina Wroldsen who worked with Britney Spears. I like the crossover of the melodies with the girls singing in one direction and the boys singing that melody in another octave. It’s the only song on the album that really does that, with the boy-girl vocal mix.

Faye: « When we heard the demo, ‘Anastacia screamed. “It’ll bring all the vibes of the nineties and get you to turn it up in the car, unwind the window, and sing really loud.

Claire: « This is actually one of my favorites on the album. I always love a ballad or a mid tempo and I think we were really lucky to get this song. It’s really something special.

« I don’t think many people write songs like this anymore. It’s really emotional and got me from the moment I heard it. I absolutely love it; It’s one of the first songs of its kind in a long time.

« Everything we’ve released since Tears on the Dancefloor has been a blast, but this one really slowed things down. I’m glad the response was so great. «

Lisa: « This was written by one of our original Steps writers, Karl Twigg, with whom we worked on One for Sorrow and Deeper Shade of Blue.

« I think this is going to be a fan favorite. Karl knows the classic steps formula with these euphoric refrains and bittersweet lyrics. It has a touch of classic steps that have been implemented musically today. «

Lee: « This is a little quirky compared to the other songs on the album; with the introduction of the strings.

« The song is what Steps is about: living in the moment, staying true to yourself and enjoying the one life you get. That’s the message we’re always trying to get out of there. Life is short, let’s enjoy it. «

Faye: « I love the lyrical content of it. It really matters where we are in life right now and I think fans will really relate to it.

« It’s about travel, relationships, and it’s a beautiful song. It has a neon blue vibe and I think it will be amazing to sing this live. The vocal harmonies are amazing and I really hope we can make it on tour. Lets see what happens. «

H: « This one has such an 80s vibe and it really brings me back to childhood movies like The Goonies and Gremlins.

« I loved it when Little Mix gave the 80s a nod with Black Magic, and it has a similar feeling. «

Claire: « This song is a bit unexpected of us since we haven’t done it in a while, but a really nice way to end the album. It’s taken back, everything about the vocals and I think it says a lot about a song if you don’t use all the bells and whistles in the production.

« You rode that big wave with all the bangs on the album and it’s like, ‘ah, relax. ‘ »

So there you have it, Huns – a deep dive into every track on Steps’ brand new album. What the future holds will be released on Friday, 27. November.
