It’s strange to see Five Nights At Freddy’s grow from a simple jumpscare feast to a full-fledged first person horror game where you have to run and hide from deathbots, but here we are. During the Sony State Of Play live stream last night, they revealed Five Nights at Freddy’s: Security Breach would start in 2021, and we got our first proper look at the gameplay. Players will explore a mall at night, dive into ball pits, and sprint through closed stores to avoid being chased by bloodthirsty animatronics.
In this trailer, a terrible, mutilated robot is crawling out of a slide in a kid’s play area, and I absolutely don’t want any of it. I haven’t been to a mall like this in over a year and after playing this game I don’t think I’ll ever want it again.
Security Breach will be the biggest game in the series to date, evolving from the fast-point-and-click style of the older games to a first-person experience that allows players to freely explore this huge mall. It seems to tie in with the FNAF VR game Help Wanted and is being developed by the same developers, Steel Wool Studios.
Granted, I’m one of those people who really cares about Five Nights At Freddy’s lore – if you can call it lore, most of the time it just feels like reading conspiracy theories – so I’m pretty excited for this one. Well, I look forward to buying the game, downloading it, then immediately giving the controller to someone else and watching them play.
Five Nights at Freddy’s: Security Breach is slated to arrive on PC, PS4, and PS5 sometime this year.
Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’ll be waiting for all of the FNAF Theory YouTubers to post new videos. I bet they had a field day with this trailer.
