NEW DELHI: Sachin Tendulkar’s son Arjun Tendulkar has registered for the Indian Premier League (IPL) player auction, which is to take place on February 18th in Chennai. It has a base price of Rs 20 lakh.
The sailor with the left arm made his debut for the Mumbai senior team at the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 tournament last month, picking two wickets in two games.
Arjun took one for 33 in four overs against Puducherry in Mumbai’s six-wicket loss and one for 34 in three overs in Mumbai’s eight-wicket loss.
The Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 were the first games of the 21st Year olds in cricket competition after July-August 2019 when he represented the Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) Young Cricketers.
Arjun has found his way through Mumbai’s age group cricket. He was selected for the Mumbai U-19 team and took 19 wickets in five games in the 2017/18 Cooch Behar Trophy. The performance included two five-wicket trains.
He also attended a National Cricket Academy camp and played in front of English players in Lord’s indoor nets while training. Once his Yorker gave English player Jonny Bairstow an injury scare after hitting the batsman. He has also bowled on Indian nets.
However, Arjun has not competed in a U19 World Cup. He played U16 cricket for Mumbai in 2015-16.
He struggled with injury problems and suffered two stress fractures while playing cricket in the age group for over four years.
