When the NFL regular season ends and the off-season begins, it is clear that the Patriots will have to improve dramatically in many areas if they are to return to appearing as a consistent playoff team.
Perhaps the most pressing need – and one that can be addressed in a number of ways – is the quarterback position. The Patriots could keep Cam Newton, turn to Jarrett Stidham, trade it for a QB, or freehand a player like Jameis Winston, Andy Dalton, or Ryan Fitzpatrick.
They could also take on a quarterback in the NFL draft, and their chances of finding a star are higher than usual this year as they are not a playoff team. From Tuesday they should be No.. Make your choice and by this time there should be many workable options available.
Here’s a look at some of the QBs the Patriots might design (scheduled for Nov.. April to 1. May) to either rely on it immediately or develop for the future. Some haven’t signed up yet and may return to school, but all of them are gamers who need to keep track of things at this point.

CBS Sports projects BYU’s Zach Wilson as the No.. So it is unlikely that the Patriots would stand a chance on him through traditional selection. However, it is more practical to act up to Wilson’s draft than to do so for Lawrence. Therefore, this should not be ruled out as a possibility.

He has some business to do this season as Alabama seeks a national title. Therefore, it is currently unclear whether he will return to school or join the NFL draft. Jones finished second after teammate DeVonta Smith in the AP Player of the Year vote.

Trask is a fifth grader and he’s 22, so one of the most experienced players in the group.
At 6-foot-5, 240 pounds, Trask is physical and punitive. He could be a finalist for the Heisman Trophy after setting a Florida record for most touchdowns in a season (43) and throwing at least three in nine consecutive games as the first history of the Southeastern Conference.
Not all experts have high NFL potential and, among other things, question his athleticism and ignorance of pressure.
Yahoo!: “Trask’s athleticism leaves much to be desired, which could limit the number of teams that give him a high rating. Though he possesses a subtle pocket movement that allows him to shuffle under pressure to execute throws, Trask is not someone scouts believe can extend games in the NFL and operate off schedule. ”
It is possible that the patriots respond to another need early on and later pluck a QB. If so, here are some potential sleepers.
He is 3. 095 yards seventh in the NCAA and has a rating of 152. 9, but struggles with accuracy at times in the course of his career.
Büchele threw eleven interceptions as a freshman and ten last year, but he has cut that number to six this season.

Newman’s situation is unique. He threw 26 TD passes at Wake Forest in 2019, moved to Georgia, and retired this season due to COVID-19 concerns.
The 6-foot-4,230-pound Newman finished second in the ACC per-game overall standings as a Redshirt junior and was fifth in the conference when he overtook yards per game that year, but he still has haven’t played in a while.

Book (6 feet, 206 pounds) has consistently impressed Notre Dame, but some NFL scouts wonder if his talent will carry over to the next level.
He is 30-4 in his career as a starter and helped the Fighting Irish make the college football playoffs, and Kiper Jr. . ranks him as the ninth best QB in the class. Some question its mechanics and accuracy, saying it’s a little too small, but they praise him for getting creative and masking some of his weaknesses.

Pickett (6-foot-2,220 pounds) had a game earlier this year in which he threw over 400 yards.
He’s been inconsistent throughout his career but has shown skills that may be transferable to the NFL.
Pro Football Focus: “Some quarterbacks have a devious arm talent when they throw a deep ball. Others flash it with every single throw. Pickett definitely falls into the latter category. ”
He has had 126 touchdowns in 42 starts in Texas since 2017, and both McShay and Kiper Jr. . Slot it as 10. best QB this year.
