World News – AU – Archie Roach has been inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame

Archie Roach was inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame 30 years after the release of his groundbreaking debut album Charcoal Lane. Show Entertainment host Brooke Boney welcomed Archie Roach to the stage today.

« After 10 albums, world tours and recognition of countless awards, we come full circle with Tell Me Why, the book and album of his life, » said Boney. « Uncle Archie Roach is an eagle who spread its wings and soared. « 

The 64-year-old singer-songwriter, writer and activist said it was a « great honor » to be inducted and to celebrate major achievements in the music industry.

« Thank you, ARIA, for this day. You never really think about getting awards playing and writing songs and playing your songs across the country, « he said in his acceptance speech while thanking his team.

« Thank you to the ARIA Awards and to giving you this wonderful honor and recognition, » he concluded, jokingly adding the trophy. « You still look as deadly as ever. You know I would hate to trip and fall on you. « 

Rapper Briggs proudly introduced Roach, saying the singer paved the way for artists like him.

« The best artist could reach heights for a moment, the greatest artists will create those moments and then live forever, » Briggs said in his monologue. « Archie Roach took his story, vulnerability, his heart and made it art. Once again, a Blackfella went way beyond reaching and educating the rest of Australia.

« Uncle Arch had the power to share his story and gave us all the power, the power to be artists, artists who have not yet started their careers, and he made a way and we had a yardstick that we had to strive for. We stand on the shoulders of giants. The recognition of our champions is well received in our community and Uncle Arch is our champion. «
