WEST Indies opener Kraigg Brathwaite beat an undefeated 183 on the opening day of the four-day practice game against New Zealand A in Queenstown. on Thursday.

West Indies are preparing for their test series with two games against New Zealand, which starts on Wednesday. The second game starts on 10. December.

Before the test series with two games, the teams will compete against each other in a T20 series with three games from Friday.

Brathwaite’s tapping led the regional team to an impressive 353/3 on stumps on day one. The right-handed player did not strike in his usual dogged style when he hit 14 fours and a six on his 262-ball stroke.

Darren Bravo, who scored 135 goals in the first warm-up game against New Zealand A, scored 93 of 167 deliveries, including 11 fours.

After opener John Campbell dropped to 45, Brathwaite and Bravo put on 189 for the second wicket.

Shamarh Brooks fell for five before Jermaine Blackwood joined Brathwaite. The pair ended West Indies with Brathwaite, who had a double century in mind, and Blackwood, who on Jan.. was unbeaten.
