Toyota Australia has stayed for almost 24. 000 of its popular Hilux and Fortuner vehicles issued an important safety recall.
According to the automaker, 23. 957 Diesel HiLux and Fortuner vehicles manufactured between June 2018 and December 2018 were affected.
« Inside the brake booster of the affected vehicles, the strength of the resin piston can deteriorate due to incorrect molding conditions during production, » says the recall notification.
“In this case, repeated use of the brake pedal can cause the piston to break, possibly leading to a loss of braking assistance and thus increasing the vehicle’s braking distance. ”
Toyota Australia said they will be contacting all owners of affected vehicles via text message, email or mail.
« For all vehicles involved, Toyota dealers will inspect the vehicle and, if necessary, replace the brake booster assembly for free, » they said.
The exchange is expected to take approx. Take 3 hours. However, depending on the dealer’s work schedule, it may be necessary for the owner to make the vehicle available for a longer period of time.
