World news – AU – Cheteshwar Pujara: ‘We have every chance to win the Test Series again’

. . Our bowling unit wouldn't be so different. They know how to thrive in Australia. ''

. .

Chicheshwar Bogara says India has « every chance to win » in the Test Series again in Australia, if they can repeat what they did in 2018-19. While agreeing to have David Warner and Stephen Smith – after missing the 2018-19 series due to a tampering ban – adding more heft to Australia, Bogara has linked the potential success of India with their players who believe they can work on magic again.

Jasperit Bomrah’s 21 wicket tally was the best joint tally with Nathan Lyon in their previous series, while Muhammad al-Shami, No. 16, came second.. .

“(Australian hitting squad) will be a little stronger than they were in 2018-19, but then the victories will not come easily.. If you want to win away from home, you need to work hard, ”Bogara told PTI. « There is no doubt that Smith, Warner and Marnus LaBushageny are great players. But the good part about our current group of bowlers is that most of them play in the same series and our bowling unit will not be very different from what it was in 2018-19.

“They know how to be successful in Australia and have enjoyed success there in the past. They have their game plans in place, and if we can execute them well, they are able to get Smith, Warner and Labuschagne out quickly.. If we can do what we have done in the past, then I am sure we have every chance to win the series again.

Boomra and Shami prepared the series by capturing six wickets between them in a tight second round to open the series with 31 wins in Adelaide. Although Australia fell back in the second Test in Perth by winning 146 distances, India’s bowlers proved relentless in the third Test in the MCG, with Australia conceding 443.

Bumrah was particularly exciting, picking nine wickets in the game – including 6 versus 33 in the first roles – to ensure massive progression into the visitors’ first roles.. As a result, India gained 137 points to take the lead in the series. After this win, Virat Kohli gave the captain’s biggest praise to his patrons when he said he just sat and listened to the bowlers’ meetings.. .

Pujara’s contribution was no less significant. He achieved three centuries in a series of 521 passes across seven rounds – 123 and 71 in Adelaide earned his Man of the Match award – while the Rishabh Pant 350 was a distant second. By contrast, no Australian batsman has made more than 258 rounds for Marcus Harris in the series, reflecting the kind of dominance the bowlers enjoyed in India..

This time, India opened a daytime night test in Adelaide, its first on a foreign land. India’s only pink ball test ended in just over two days last year, as the visiting Bangladesh team put up a little fight against some of the dominant Indian bowling, especially from Ishant Sharma and Umesh Yadav, in Kolkata..

But Bogara thinks Adelaide will be a « different challenge » because the surface will be different. « It would be a completely different challenge to play with the pink ball as the speed and bounce change as well, » he said.. « We will play with pink kokapura in Australia (against Bangladesh, India played with pink ball SG). It will be a little different.

“As a team and as individuals, one must understand it, accept it, and get used to it (the pink ball and the lights) as soon as possible []. There will be a slight difference with the pink ball. The Twilight period is more difficult than the other periods, but the more you play and practice the more, you get used to it. It takes some time.

Bogara is one of only two Test team members to have had no match time for more than ten months. He last appeared for Saurashtra in the Ranji Cup Final against Bengal in March, right after a long journey from New Zealand. With him and Hanuma Vihari not part of the IPL, the duo arrived in Dubai early and trained for a week before leaving for Australia with the rest of the team..

For the most part of the past five months since lockdown restrictions were eased slightly in India, Bogara has trained at his academy in the outskirts of Rajkot, along with a few members of the Ranji award-winning Saurashtra team. . With domestic cricket resuming in India yet, he had no time to match – but that’s not something to be worried about.

“Even during the last round, I was well prepared. I’m sure I’ll be able to repeat the same setup before this series as well.  ». With 5,840 rides currently, he is also hoping to pass 6,000 test rides while in Australia. “I always try to add some other things in my game, which will help me improve.

Does the lack of match time in India bother him? “Look, this situation has affected millions of lives and people lost theirs. Under normal circumstances we would have played local cricket and went to Australia, but everyone needs to think about safety and security. As far as I’m concerned, I’m glad if I’m able to train, do fitness, run and move my body really well, which I did.
