World News – AU – Concussed Eagle Venables Receives AFL Lifeline

Premier striker Daniel Venables has been awarded an AFL lifeline after being transferred to the West Coast as a rookie.

Venables has not played since a horrific concussion compared to a car accident on round nine of the 2019 season.

The 22-year-old made several unsuccessful attempts to build up the full training load over the next 18 months before being removed from the list two weeks ago.

But he’s now been given another chance to revive his career after the Eagles picked him up with pick No.. 27 in Thursday’s rookie draft.

Venables is believed to have made significant strides in recovering from his concussion over the past few months, but the Eagles still have to be careful with him.

Venables, who was first caught with Pick No.. 12 in the 2016 National Draft just turned 15. Game when featured in the 2018 West Coast Flag.

But his career was cut short the following year when he received a pathetic blow on the head while competing in a marking competition against Melbourne’s Tim Smith.

The Victorian is expected to return to Perth next month to start a modified training program.
