CAPE TOWN: South Africa’s limited overs team returned the all-clear after a third round of COVID-19 testing on the eve of the opening game against England in Newlands on Friday, but lost all-rounder Dwaine Pretorius to injury.
The two players who tested positive last week were not part of the group tested and will remain in isolation and under surveillance, a statement from Cricket South Africa said. « They are doing well and are in good health, » he added, without naming them.
The possibility of infection in the South African camp threatened the English tour with six games at one point. The two countries play three 20 international and three one-day internationals in Newlands and Paarl.
Pretorius, 31, with 22 ODI caps, suffered a thigh injury while training in Newlands and is expected to be out for a month. No replacement will be named, added CSA.
