DETROIT – On the day of the Detroit Lions’ final game of the season against the Minnesota Vikings, kicker Matt Prater made NFL history with the most 50-yard field goals.
Prater’s record comes during his 59th birthday. Career field goals on Sunday, when he overtook the 58 field goals of former Raiders kicker Sebastian Janikowski.

Prater set the record with a 54-yard field goal in the second quarter of Sunday’s game. On Dec. . 20, he linked up with Janikowski for the record and scored a 58 in the third quarter. Field goal against the Tennessee Titans.
Prater is in its 14th. Season and joined the Lions as a free agent in 2014 after serving with the Denver Broncos and Atlanta Falcons. He currently holds the NFL record with the longest field goal at 64 yards.
