Steven Moffat unveiled the original script for iconic Doctor Who episode Blink, which saw the introduction of the terrifying Weeping Angels
The writer posted the document following a tweet from a fan about the Halloween episode, although he had difficulty retrieving it as it was saved in an outdated file format
After several unsuccessful attempts, it was the writing duo Laurence Marks and Maurice Gran who were able to access the legendary screenplay, which has many similarities to the finished product but some notable differences
Moffat said in a statement: « A few things before I read I hated the last scene so much that the next morning I sent in the script – even before hearing a note – I wrote a short story end and I sent it in a hurry No one has seen this version in years, and hardly anyone has seen it back then. Forgotten History, I guess The Road Not Taken «

Originally, the episode was to be titled Sally Sparrow and The Weeping Angel, with fewer mentions of the word « blinking » than in the final version.
Moffat continues, “The proper title hadn’t come yet, so no one said, ‘Don’t blink! Weird, really, looking back When I changed the title, it was Russell [T Davies] who suggested that I hit the word ‘blink’ over and over again, like a tacky old trailer. As you know, I ran with grade for all I was worth – and what a brilliant grade it was «
Additionally, the episode’s original ending included a more uncertain future for Sally and Larry, as it was implied that Sally could potentially end up with another woman
« Be careful, Russell always liked this ending – because, in his words, ‘it was a little more lesbian' », Moffat recalls
The Weeping Angels were recently voted the scariest Doctor Who monster of all time in a RadioTimescom poll, beating fierce competition from the Daleks, Cybermen and Gas Mask Zombies
