Hollywood star Naomi Watts has revealed how she played a real woman who made good friends with a baby magpie in the inspiring new Aussie movie Penguin Bloom.

The Oscar-nominated actress stars in the true survival story of Samantha Bloom, an active Australian mother who is paralyzed from the chest down after an accident in Thailand.

Your struggle to move forward is supported by a wounded baby magpie named Penguin who is taking in her family.

The extraordinary true story was told in 2016 in the book Penguin Bloom: The Strange Little Bird That Saved a Family.

Watts told Sunrise that she worked closely with Samantha to prepare for the role, describing her as an « extraordinary woman » with « so much resilience ». .

« You’re always nervous before you have the experience of playing a real person, so I just wanted to do the right thing for them, » she explained.

« But she couldn’t have been more generous, I just loved talking to her, it was a nice friendship that also formed. ”

Watt is accompanied in the film by co-stars Andrew Lincoln, Jacki Weaver, Rachel House, Leeanna Walsman, Lisa Hensley, Griffin Murray-Johnston, Felix Cameron and Abe Clifford-Barr.

Watts also revealed how she was filming scenes with the film’s other star, Penguin the Magpie.

« They used several birds that were well trained, then it took a little CGI and animatronics, » she explained.
