World News – AU – Footy Show colleagues bury the hatchet over Christmas

They were former best friends who turned into bitter enemies, embroiled in one of Footy’s most hostile and public feuds.

The Footy Show’s former friends who became enemies fell out in 2016 when Lyon left his wife and began a relationship with Brownless’ estranged wife of 18, Nicky.

The public fallout caused Lyon to quit the Footy Show and seek treatment for depression.

But five years later, the high-profile couple seem to have mended their differences and are breaking bread at Christmas dinner.

Photos posted on social media show the men at a Christmas party in Geelong with Nicky and Brownless kids Ruby, Max, Oscar and Lucy.

Brownless spoke to Sam Newman about the « You Can’t Be Serious » podcast in September and said he and Lyon would begin the process of reconciliation.

« Buddy, it’s been four or five years, I stopped by and everyone is in a good place to be honest, » Brownless said. « We’ve talked a couple of times, probably (will never be the same) and, mate, there aren’t any Christmas cards yet, but we’ve talked a couple of times. ”

Before they split up, the Brownless and Lyon families were close and even vacationed overseas together.

Brownless admitted that he felt « hatred » for his former boyfriend when he first found out about the new relationship.

« At the time, of course, you are all going through different emotions. « Why me? » And of course a little hatred, « said Brownless.

« It was hard back then because it was so public. I would go to a coffee shop and I would swear everyone was looking at me and talking about it and it wasn’t them. ”
