After beating Chennaiyin FC for the first time this ISL season, Bengaluru FC will seek to maintain momentum as they face NorthEast United FC on Tuesday at Fatorda Stadium.

BFC is so far unbeaten in the league and is fifth in the table with five points from three games. But NorthEast also has to accept one defeat and is eight points higher after playing one more match.

« It will be a very tactical game because they are a very well organized team, » said BFC boss Carles Cuadrat. “NorthEast is very compact in defense and waits for attack opportunities. ”

“But we are a very consistent team with a clear plan. It’s very difficult to play against us. At the same time, we know we have room for improvement and that is exactly what we are trying to do, ”added Cuadrat.

Shadows of that were visible against Chennaiyin, where BFC made more sense of moving forward from the start. Much of it had to do with midfielder Dimas Delgado starting his first game of the season. The BFC camp will hope that this will continue and that the team’s first goal will be scored from the open game of this edition.

« We try to be dangerous for the opponent in many ways, be it counter-attack, positional play, set pieces or otherwise, » said Gerard Nus, NorthEast coach. “We try to be unpredictable. « 

“[But] the principles of our style won’t change because we believe in them. Of course, we also take the opponent into account. Bengaluru is really strong on set pieces. So we will be as prepared as possible. ”

NorthEast has never beaten BFC in the league and Tuesday could be a good time to do that.

The Indian Super League (ISL 2020-21) marks the return of major league competition in India following the nationwide lockdown to keep the COVID-19 outbreak from first imposing in March.

The seventh edition of the ISL began on May 20. November in a bio-bubble in Goa.

During the four-month tournament, 11 teams will play against each other in a league and playoff format at three venues. With the addition of SC East Bengal, 115 games will be played this season, up from 95 last season.
