A call between NRL star Jarryd Hayne and former teammate Mitchell Pearce about sexual assault has been brought to court.
Jarryd Hayne has arrived at Newcastle District Court to defend the sexual assault charges in his trial.
Jarryd Hayne, who announced former NSW teammate Mitchell Pearce that he would sue the woman who accused him of sexual assault on libel.
Mr Hayne will be tried in Newcastle District Court for the alleged attack on the woman on Jan.. September 2018 – the night of the great NRL final – brought to justice.
He is accused of having oral and digital sex with her in the Newcastle suburb of Fletcher without her consent.
The 32-year-old pleaded not guilty to two incidents of sexual intercourse without consenting, compounded by recklessly causing actual bodily harm.
It is believed that Hayne was drunk when he got to the woman’s home in a taxi before causing her significant pain and bleeding while performing a sexual act on her.
Mr. Hayne has argued that all damage was accidental and that the injury was caused by a fingernail.
The trial had previously heard that Mr Hayne was in Newcastle that weekend to attend a two-day buck party and had paid $ 550 for a taxi to help him from the alleged sexual assault on a then 26-year-old woman drive back to Sydney the house she shared with her mother.
It is believed that the taxi driver was told to wait outside while Mr. Hayne entered the house. However, the driver knocked on the door 20 minutes later after not returning.
The court heard that the woman, who cannot be identified, turned on Jan.. First complained to police on November 11th and detectives tapped Mr Hayne’s phone five days later.
In one of five calls played to the jury on Friday morning, Mr. Hayne was heard telling Mr. Pearce, the Newcastle Knights Halfback, that the woman was from « Newy » and that « some of your boys may know her ». Brothers ».
Mr. Hayne told Mr. Pearce that the woman: « sent me all these nude snaps on Snapchat ».
During the call on Nov.. On November 11th, Mr. Hayne described the woman as a « full blown lunatic » and that she was « damn dirty » because he ran a taxi in front of the door.
Mr. Hayne listens to Mr.. Pearce said that « my fingernail just had to cut her off » while she was performing a sexual act on her.
« I picked up a lawyer, I’ll easily slander them, » said Mr. Hayne to his former blues teammate.
After the Crown Fall closed on Friday afternoon, Mr. Hayne stood up for the first part of his testimony.
He told the jury that the woman was « open » and « sharp » during the fierce social media exchange read to the court.
He first wrote to her in 2014 when she was entering a beauty contest and said « good luck » before they spoke again in 2018.
She first wrote to him on Instagram: « You are absolutely amazing » before the news soon became increasingly sexual.
When asked about the Friday afternoon news, Mr. Hayne said, “It speaks for itself, she was excited, she was open. ”
Hayne soon started asking the woman about selfies and videos and they started communicating on Snapchat, after which she sent him several nude pictures and photos of her in lingerie.
