This is the haunting last photo of a man seconds before he mysteriously fell off a cliff at Victoria Falls one day with his girlfriend.

Roy George Tinashe Dikinyay, 40, fell from the iconic beauty spot – his body was tragically found three miles downriver in Zimbabwe.

Local media Newsday has since reported that he took turns with his friend to take photos in the canyon in the danger zone.

A fellow traveler told the website, « We were alerted by the woman’s scream and she told us he had slipped and fallen.

« Because of the shower and fog, we couldn’t track him after that, and then we went to alert the park officials. «

The last picture of Mr Dikinyay alive shows him just before he fell off a cliff while looking at the iconic falls.

He was wearing shorts, a T-shirt, and a baseball cap while holding various items in his left hand.

The final picture – with the beautiful but powerful waterfalls as a backdrop – was taken before it disappeared into the rapids below and was swept away.

According to local media, he drove with a friend to Victoria Falls Gorge in Zimbabwe on New Years Day.

Rescue workers say the man fell into the water around 2 a.m.. 30 p.m. shortly after that haunting snapshot was taken and vanished into the fog below.

Zimbabwe National Parks spokesman Tinashe Farawo confirmed that a 40-year-old man had fallen into the gorge and that a search operation was started immediately.

Due to the difficult conditions, it took 24 hours for his body to be found and found by rescuers.

« The body has been found but we cannot retrieve it, » he told Newsday in Zimbabwe.

“We’re trying to develop methods of retrieval. The place is slippery and there is water, so we used the services of security services. ”

This is the result of heavy rainfall that makes the local rocks slippery and difficult to navigate.

The Victoria Falls are an almost 2 km wide waterfall on the Zambezi in southern Africa, which is considered one of the largest waterfalls in the world.

In the local language, however, it is referred to as Mosi-oa-Tunya, which means « The smoke that thunders ».

Mr. Dikinyay’s death comes a few months after two teenage friends fell 100 feet to their death just moments after posting a snapshot from the top of a waterfall.

Bruna Vellasquez (18) and Monique Medeiros (19) tragically died after one of them slipped and the other tried to help a beauty spot in Brazil.

And in December 2019, an investigation overheard a former lifeguard swept to death after descending a daring waterfall in Australia with his girlfriend.

Tom Hunt, 25, and girlfriend Emily Blair held hands descending a natural rock slide at popular Josephine Falls in Queensland, Australia before being separated by a torrent of water.

Mr. Hunt, of Brigg, Lincolnshire, initially survived and was more concerned about Mrs. Blair’s safety before being swept down the river by a torrent.

He was a former lifeguard in Grimsby and was described as a good swimmer who had taken part in several daring voyages in his travels.
