A man died after falling off a cliff on the edge of Darwin’s CBD earlier this morning, Northern Territory police say.
At 4:00 a.m., emergency services were called to Darwin Esplanade after it became known that a person had fallen from the area.
Some parts of the coast along the esplanade slope from great heights, but sections are fenced off by railings.
A spokesman for NT police said there was no evidence of suspicious circumstances or suicide.
« It is a timely reminder to anyone visiting the Esplanade that the security fences are in place for a reason, » said Superintendent Daniel Shean.
« Please do not climb them and venture to the edge of the cliff, especially at night when there is little to no light, to tell where the edge is. «
