Addo-Carr was looking for a deal with a Sydney-based club in 2022 after telling the Storm that he wanted to return home to be closer to the family.

He originally requested a release from the final year of his contract with Melbourne to move to Sydney in 2021. The winger took part in talks with the Wests Tigers and signed an agreement to join the club for the next season. However, the storm denied his release.

Widely considered the best winger in the game, Addo-Carr will see the final year of his contract with the Storm before teaming up with the Bulldogs.

His signing follows a list of formidable coups by the club under new coach Trent Barrett, including Kyle Flanagan and Nick Cotric for 2021 and Panther’s Young Gun Matt Burton for 2022.

« The Bulldogs have continued their quest for a squad capable of competing for titles in the future with the acquisition of Josh Addo-Carr, the country of origin, on a four-year deal that will see him join the club for the 2022 season will and will keep him in Belmore until the end of 2025, ”a statement said.

« Having someone like Josh join the Bulldogs after being the target of a number of clubs is another sign that we are gradually putting together a roster that has the right mix of experience and quality « said Hill.

« Josh has been a proven player at every level he has played and he will bring the elements of speed and punch that all clubs seek into their backline.

“Josh will be another leader in our group and will bring the kind of winning attitude that the club wants to create here at Belmore.

“We look forward to seeing him join us for the 2022 season and wish him all the best for the next season. ”

« I am relieved that I have finally clarified my playing future and can now concentrate on making my last year with Storm an unforgettable one, » he said of a statement published by Storm.
