Queensland will open its border with Adelaide starting at 1:00 a.m. on Saturday provided there are no unrelated cases in the next five days.
Sport Integrity Australia has appealed against the two-year doping ban against Australian swimmer Shayna Jack.
The South Australian capital was declared a coronavirus hotspot three weeks ago due to a cluster in the northern suburbs.
The decision was made on the condition that there are no additional cases that cannot be linked to a COVID-19 cluster that hit the South Australian capital last month.
At the time, Queensland Health had designated 20 Adelaide local authorities as official hotspots banning anyone who had visited those areas.
Residents from other parts of South Australia were allowed to enter Queensland if they had not been in Adelaide for the last 14 days.
Jeannette Young, Queensland’s chief health officer, said the decision was made after careful review of the circumstances.
« South Australia saw no cases in the past week and there have now been a total of 33 cases related to this Parafield cluster, » said Dr. Young.
« So we saw the case numbers escalate quickly at first, and then they got those cases under control very quickly, quarantining people and managing them. «
