Chelsea face Rennes in Champions League Group E tonight as the Blues try to secure their spot in the knockout round. A win over the French side would leave Chelsea by 10 points and that would be enough to secure a spot in the last 16 provided Krasnodar don’t beat Sevilla in Russia.

Frank Lampard has both Kai Havertz and Thiago Silva available after the former paused with Covid-19 and the latter rested for the Premier League win against Newcastle this weekend, although only Silva starts the game. Christian Pulisic is not playing but could be fit for the weekend, Callum Hudson-Odoi starts on the wing, Tammy Abraham leads the line, captain Cesar Azpilicueta returns to the starting line-up while goalkeeper Edouard Mendy plays in goal on his return to his former club.

Rashford stutters in advance, waiting for the goalkeeper to move before shooting his penalty in the lower right corner. That’s probably over, ten minutes of the first half are still to play.

Penalty for United! Lindelof plays an excellent long ball over the top for Rashford, who races on it. He makes his way into the pits and stands in front of the backtracking Bolingoli, who nudges him. The referee points to the point.

A terrible goalkeeping mistake gives Fernandes a second! It’s a more classic build-up game from United, although Telles’ ball appears to be a routine for Gunok. But he drops the ball at the feet of Fernandes, who at close range turns into an empty net.
