Reports indicate that Benji Marshall has been offered a lucrative rugby league lifeline that would allow the veteran playmaker to continue in 2021.

NRL: There are reports that Benji Marshall may be ready to move to the English Super League with the chance of a much bigger paycheck.

Benji Marshall is reportedly being targeted by the UK Super League with a large cash offer on the table as the soccer star explores his options after being released by the Wests Tigers.

The joint venture club, which Marshall debuted for as a teenager in 2003, told the 35-year-old he was unwanted beyond 2020, even though he would like to keep playing. He has yet to get a deal with another NRL team, but England club Hull has shown interest.

According to a report by The Daily Telegraph, Hull FC has the veteran playmaker a deal worth 722. A $ 000 for 2021, which would make him the highest paid player in the league alongside Warrington, the fifth and eighth NRL stars Gareth Widdop.

Moving to the UK, Marshall would team up with former Tigers teammate and assistant coach Brett Hodgson, who was recently named Hull’s new head coach for three years.

Marshall was with the Tigers for a decade before trying rugby union, and then spent brief stints in St. George and Brisbane before returning to Concord in 2018.

The pivot played a major role in the Tigers’ 2005 triumph in the Premier League, but the club has never reached the same heights again and has not reached the final every year since 2011.

There were rumors that Marshall was being chased by the cowboys who are now being coached by another of his former teammates, Todd Payten, but he reportedly pushed back a move to North Queensland.

Marshall has also been linked with Cronulla, while a report in the Sydney Morning Herald on Sunday claimed his management had reached out to the Roosters.

The Roosters already have NSW rep Luke Keary as first and fifth place first choice, but will bleed a new halfback in 2021 after getting rid of young Kyle Flanagan after his first full season in the top grade.
