Deserved Brits across the UK have been included on the annual New Years Honor Roll which is published today as part of the UK honor system.
On New Year’s Day, new members of orders of knights and recipients of other official honors are named annually. The awards are presented by or on behalf of the incumbent monarch, Queen Elizabeth II. , Or bestowed on her deputy royal representative.
Lewis Hamilton, Sheila Hancock, Lesley Manville and Nina Wadia are among the 1. 239 recipients of this year’s New Year’s award. The list includes celebrities and people who work in the UK public sector and communities and who do excellent service in all four UK countries.
Public sector employees make up 14. 8% of the list and includes firefighters, health workers, teachers, police officers and local government employees. The list includes 123 (10%) health and social workers who were part of the response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Actress Sheila Hancock receives condemnation for contributions to drama and charity, while driver Lewis Hamilton wins a knighthood for his accomplishments as a seven-time Formula 1 race winner. Manville won a CBE for her Oscar and BAFTA nominated acting career, while Wadia received an OBE for her career in EastEnders and as one of the cross-cultural Goodness Gracious Me-Trope in the 1990s. She will next appear in the six-part series The Offenders on the BBC and Amazon Prime.
Praised the recipients, Prime Minister Boris Johnson said: « In a year where so many have sacrificed to protect our NHS and save people’s lives, the outstanding efforts of those receiving honors today are one welcome reminder of the strength of the human mind and what can be achieved through courage and compassion. ”
