MANILA, Philippines – The San Miguel Beermen are chasing their sixth consecutive Philippine Cup title, this time in the PBA bubble amid the novel coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19)
But without six-time MVP Jun Mar Fajardo to help them in their quest, Beermen coach Leo Austria sees a tougher challenge.
« With June Mar we are really confident, but this time it will be a tough challenge for us, » Austria said during the PBA’s media availability at Quest Hotel in Pampanga
« [But] the good thing about these players in our first game is that the commitment is really there and everyone has stepped up, » he said.
The Beermens played the first and last match of the PBA Philippine Cup before the COVID-19 pandemic on March 8
Despite being proficient in their players’ skills even without the six-time MVP, Austria believe Fajardo’s absence still gives their opponents an advantage – especially in terms of confidence

The Beermens continue their title defense and play their first match in the « bubble » on Tuesday, October 13 against Terrafirma Dyip, 6:45 am at the Angeles University Foundation in Pampanga
