Australian opener David Warner’s groin injury banned him from the upcoming third ODI against India and the T20I series that followed on Wednesday. Warner has had a busy schedule for the past four months and was only allowed to spend time with his family a few weeks ago.
His wife, Candice, jokingly said that this may have played a role in his injury. « Sorry Australia! » Candice said in a lighter tone, speaking on Triple Ms. Moonman that morning about Warner’s injury.
« We only reunited after four months, a few days earlier. . . and everyone says ‘what did you do to him’ « she said with a giggle.
Warner is now in a race to prove his fitness in time for the Australian test series against India to be held on Jan.. December begins. Head coach Justin Langer said he wasn’t sure the opener would be available for the first test.
« He put pressure on his kidnapper in his groin and they tell me it’s a very painful injury. It looked like he’d been shot by a gun. He was in incredible pain in the changing rooms. We just got into Canberra so we probably won’t see him again for five or six days until we get back to Sydney, « Langer told SEN’s Sportsday WA.
« I’m not holding my breath that he’ll be ready for the first friendly, but he’s still kind of an elite professional who will literally do anything to be prepared. « . We’ll see what happens, but he is sure to be a loss, « added Langer.
