Sydney Thunder will be wearing a local play kit during two WBBL matches this weekend in recognition of NAIDOC Week.

Sydney Thunder will wear the Aboriginal Play Kit during two WBBL matches this weekend to celebrate NAIDOC Week.

Designed by Sydney-based Ryanna Lotter, the jersey pays homage to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture, and will appear in matches against Melbourne Stars and Perth Scores.

Thunder Men’s Team wore the design during the BBL match last summer, and the women’s team will wear the kit for the first time on Saturday..

Thunder Director Hannah Darlington said, “It’s a great tape. I saw it last year when the boys put it on their tour and they thought it was cool..

“I think being able to wear that plaything shirt over the weekend would be really special. It’s a very cool design.

« When people turn on the TV and see that shirt, we hope it will inspire them – both indigenous and non-indigenous – to play cricket..

Darlington Mrs. Camilleroy is proud, joining classmate Anika Leroyd as two indigenous rising stars in the sport.

They’re exceptionally young and doing an amazing job, said Rachel Hines, captain of Thunder.
