Almost three months after the Cake Boss star’s accident, which led to multiple operations on his hand, fans are being examined more closely about his journey to healing.

On Wednesday, December. 23, TLC will air a two-hour special entitled Buddy Valastro: Road to Recovery. And in an exclusive look from E! News, viewers quickly learn how quickly the whole family has mobilized to support the world-famous baker.

In the clip, Buddy returned home almost 12 hours after the operation, where the extended family was hoping for any updates. After Lisa Valastro described the wand that passed through her husband’s hand, she couldn’t help but see how much Buddy’s life had changed in a matter of minutes.

« Is that a dream? » she asked. « It’s a nightmare. Never mind a dream. « Buddy looked noticeably weak when he expressed his disappointment with the accident. « I’m so mad at myself, » he recalled. « My hand is everything to me. « 

Back in September, E! News confirmed that Buddy was involved in a « terrible » bowling accident in which his hand was impaled.

« There was a malfunction with the bowling pinsetter, a common solution in the past but it turned into a terrible accident, » his spokesman said at the time. « After he tried to release the cone from the cage mechanism, his right hand got stuck in the device and was squeezed. Since he cannot remove his hand, he can slowly and repeatedly see a 1-1 / 2-inch metal bar impaling his hand three times between the ring finger and middle finger. « 

After five minutes, Buddy’s sons, including 16-year-old Buddy Valastro Jr. . , helped her father by cutting through metal bars with a saw.

If you only talk to E! News on dec. . At 21, the 43-year-old TV star was optimistic that his hand could continue to improve.

« They say this healing process can take up to nine months to a year because they reconnected nerves and other things and you just don’t know how they’re going to grow, » Buddy told E! news. « I think they’re starting to work, but I just won’t know until we’re further down. « 

He continued, « I will probably need a few more surgeries and intense physical therapy. I’m starting to get a lot back of what I’ve lost, but I don’t know if I’ll be 60 percent, 80 percent, 90 percent, hopefully 100 percent. « 

And while the future looks unpredictable, Buddy said that his viewers and fans alike motivate him to keep fighting and know this is not the end of his career.

« I was really optimistic, » he shared. « The fans and my family were so good, they cheered and supported me. Give me the love that you gave me. It made me do more. It pushes me to get better. « 

« I mean, at our age we were both married before. It’s like: Are we getting married? Right? « Lopez says.
