SA Health says an 80-year-old woman tested positive for COVID-19 after receiving treatment at Lyell McEwin Hospital in the northern suburbs of Adelaide.

Two of her close contacts – a woman in her 50s and a man in her 60s – tested positive as well..

Chief public health official, Nicolas Spurier, said one of them worked in a mid-range hotel in Adelaide’s CBD.

« I expect we will have more cases, which is why I totally warn South Australian residents: This is a wake-up call – if you have respiratory symptoms you should get the test, ».

About 90 people who were in the hospital’s emergency department at the same time as the woman – between 5:30 pm on Friday and 4:00 am on Saturday – were placed in quarantine.

Dr. Spurier said the 80-year-old also visited Parafield Plaza Asian supermarket between 10:30 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. Thursday while she was infected..
