Hill: Trivia time: When was the last time the Chiefs won a game with more than six points? I’ll wait. … Yes, in week 8 the Chiefs beat the Jets 35-9 and haven’t gained more than six points since November 1st. The Chiefs ran around in their sleep for most of the season (or maybe they just aren’t as dominant as we think). Keep in mind that they put double digits on every postseason game last year, so this team is extremely streaky even quarter to quarter.
Now, a Browns team that has had its most successful season in decades is coming, absolutely Has no expectations and has nothing to lose. They could lose that game 50-0 and the season is still unanimously hailed as a sweeping success. The Browns lost to the Jets in Week 16 and had to beat the Steelers’ backups in Week 17 to avoid a humiliating end to their season. They seemed tight and barely held on to a 24:22 win.
Any additional success after the season is house money for the Browns, who are like a mid-major team in the Sweet 16. You can play fast and easy and will play against a Chiefs team that hasn’t played all of the starters since December. 27.
The Chiefs are a temporary team so they rely on timing and rhythm. Perhaps the time out will affect their offensive and the Browns can build a lead and let the ball run well enough to keep Patrick Mahomes on the sidelines. The Browns have to play perfectly to create this monumental surprise, but I’m going to invest my money against a team that hasn’t played in three weeks – and haven’t covered for months.
Youmans: The Buccaneers have lost a game by more than three points only twice in the entire season. Obviously, those two losses were recorded for the Saints with a combined result of 72-26, including the 38-3 knockdown in Tampa Bay on November 8th. Maybe the Bucs season will end where it started, Week 1 in New Orleans, but Tom Brady won’t go down without a fight this time.
Despite all of their regular season successes over the past few years, the Saints have in The postseason didn’t play at the same high level, and I wasn’t particularly impressed with how they played against a bad Bears team last week. There’s more pressure on Drew Brees, who likely knows his next loss will end his career. Most performance figures indicate that this number should be 3.5, and there is no real value in getting three points. So I’m going the teaser route. I wouldn’t be surprised to see Brady take out Brees.
Tuley: I’m sure you will hear the myth that « it’s hard for one team to beat another team three times in a season » but 67 percent of the time, the winner of the two previous meetings makes it. The offenses are pretty much the same, but the Saints are ahead of the game in defense so I can’t pull the trigger on the bucs and only get one field goal. I could actually pass this game on in full if I have live teaser tickets for the Buccaneers 9.
