The 13-track project lasts approximately 45 minutes and features guest appearances by Danny Brown on « BUZZCUT », JPEGMAFIA on « CHAIN ON », A $ AP Ferg and A $ AP Rocky on « BANKROLL », SoGone SoFlexy with « WINDOWS ». Charlie Wilson on « I Accept You » and Baird on « OLD NEWS ». The recording follows the mainstream success of its predecessor GINGER and sees the group in a NEW LIGHT, as they, like everyone else in the world, deal with the new normal brought about by the pandemic.
The boys were physically farther apart since leaving the house they first shared in Los Angeles in 2016. The distance, however, was just evidence of how strong their bond was as both colleagues and brothers. ROADRUNNER tells the ups and downs of the former self-identified boy band as they grappled with the weight of isolation, identity and unexpected personal loss and almost looked for the « light » again – the group opened up to a wider range of employees This time and even member Jabari Manwa, who appears regularly as an in-house producer, leaves his comfort zone and enters the realm as a singer and performer. The guys are stepping out refreshed and more confident than ever and if it’s true that ROADRUNNER and its follow-up album are the last two projects BROCKHAMPTON will ever release, they are sure to end things on a high level.
