VICTORIA –
British Columbia health officials are expected to announce how many COVID-19 cases, outbreaks and deaths were recorded on Monday over the weekend.

Provincial Health Officer Dr. . Bonnie Henry and Health Secretary Adrian Dix will return to the podium on Monday afternoon.

The three days covered in their update followed a week in which B. . C.. . The total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases since the pandemic began has exceeded 25. 000.

On Friday, the province added 516 new coronavirus cases and 10 more deaths from the disease. The province’s death toll now stands at 331.

Until Friday there was 7 in the province. 122 active cases of the coronavirus, the highest number of active cases to date.

That number included 227 people in the hospital, which was also a record high. Fifty-seven of these patients were in intensive care.

The 516 cases added on Friday marked the lowest number added to B.. C.. . is in total in a 24-hour period since Nov.. . 9 and the second day in a row with fewer than 600 new cases after six days that exceeded this threshold.

This trend is positive, which health officials hope will continue as B.. C.. . enters a period of tightened restrictions on social gatherings across the province.
