The Ayatollah of Rock-n-Rolla is one of the last active contenders to contend for both past promotions like WCW and ECW while running successful runs in ongoing promotions like WWE, NJPW and AEW. Jericho has been in the business for over 30 years and has seen the backstage environments change over time, evolving from what they were in the late 90s.

Talking about sticking with Konnan 100, Jericho says he saw drug use drop significantly today compared to when he first got into the business.

« After every show there is food for the entire crew. The McMahon family came from a wrestling background. In sports, you take care of your athletes and make sure they are fed. They make sure they have a place to stay. Not in the WWE. You find your own food, you rent your own hotel, you get your own rental car and you have it with you. « 

Due to aspects like Khan’s generosity, Jericho says he sees a lot of WCW in AEW when it comes to the familiar feeling behind the scenes.

« The way WCW was, there was this camaraderie because everyone was together, » said Jericho. « And the difference now, like you said, everyone is just cool. Everyone wants to hang out. Not to say WWE wasn’t like that, but if you haven’t done a European tour everyone has been to different hotels and some people leave right after the show, some have to go to the next town, some like to stay. There are really no [cliques] in this one. I mean, there are your cliques, but usually it’s a pretty cool crowd and everyone just hangs out man.

« I think this is today’s equivalent of driving on the freeway, and instead of having 2-3 people in my car, which I would never do if it was driving at this point, I’ve gathered 15 stupid people Stories. «
