OTTAWA – The Canadian Food Inspection Agency has announced the recall of several delicatessen products due to possible contamination by Listeria bacteria.
The recall includes 175-gram packs of Montreal-style Compliments smoked meat, smoked beef pastrami and corned beef with a December best-before date. 11, 2020.
The recall also involved 150-gram packs of Levitts-branded corned beef, Montreal-style smoked meat and New York-style pastrami with a December best-before date. 23 and 175 gram packs of sliced pastrami from The Deli-Shop brand with a best before date of December. 11.
Federal agency says Levitts Foods (Canada) Inc. . is recalling affected products and an ongoing agency investigation could result in additional recalls.
However, it can cause symptoms such as vomiting, nausea, persistent fever, muscle pain, severe headache, and a stiff neck.
People who are at higher risk include pregnant women, the elderly, and those with weaker immune systems.
One disease has been reported so far that may be associated with the recalled products, according to the CFIA.
