About a month after Søren « Bjergsen » Bjerg announced his retirement from the professional League of Legends, Yiliang « Peter » « Doublelift » Peng also announced his own retirement. Doublelift has another NA title and a sequentially failed Worlds run behind them. For six consecutive years he won the LCS Summer Playoffs, but could not escape the groups at Worlds.

It was rumored that Doublelift would be retiring if it didn’t have strong support this year. It was also reported that TSM was working on acquiring Suning Gaming’s previous sponsorship, Hu « SwordArt » Shuo-Chieh, who was released on Aug.. The team was fired on November 11th, just a day before Doublelift’s announcement, suggesting that SwordArt’s landing site may not be TSM.

Doublelift had previously taken a break in his career and took a break after the worlds in 2016. He didn’t play in the spring split until loaned out to Team Liquid to avoid relegation. In this situation, however, he had not officially announced his resignation, as he has done here. Doublelift has won eight of the last eleven splits it competed in, qualified for the MSI Finals in 2019, and has competed in All Worlds since 2015. He had the most dominant career in NA, holding the most titles, and taking home five between 2017 and 2019.

TSM hasn’t announced their carry for 2021, but they still have OCE talent Lawrence « Lost » Hui available. It was reported that he was traded on Evil Geniuses after acquiring support for Doublelift against Heo « Huni » Seung-hoon. However, trading can now be suspended if TSM decides to use Lost as its own AD. TSM recently released Sergeant « Broken Blade » Çelik, and they have several positions left to fill their list.
