World News – CA – Fresh Street Market Opens Huge Grocery Store in Aberdeen Mall – Kamloops News

The Fresh Street Market staff cut the ribbon in front of the newest store in the Aberdeen Mall this morning. The 36th. 000 square meter shop offers gourmet donuts, a cheese department and a deli counter.

Fresh Street, along with Marshalls and Old Navy, fills the mall space when Sears closes its Canadian operations.

« There was a lot of planning, a lot of execution. COVID played along a lot, « says McCurdy. « We were concerned that we would not be able to open, but we worked with the management of the shopping centers in Aberdeen Mall. You were absolutely fantastic with us. « 

The new store is physically the largest of the six Fresh Street Markets (most are on the lower mainland, one in Whistler) and employs 130 full-time and part-time workers. McCurdy says this is the first time Georgia Main started as an H 115 years ago. Y. . Louie was based in Kamloops.

« This place fell into our laps when Sears closed, but at the same time we researched the market and just felt like there was a good opportunity for us, » he says.

Fresh Street will bring Kamloops unique items, McCurdy adds, as it enters a market already served by large grocery stores like Superstore, Costco, Save-On-Foods and FreshCo, as well as smaller specialties like Natures Fare, Twin Rivers and Old Stadtmarkt, FraserCart and Eastuff are occupied.

« There are products that we carry that no one else offers, regardless of whether they are unique cheeses. We have a world champion cheese from the Rogue River in Oregon, « says McCurdy. « We have an assortment of pasta and sauces that no one has seen. We have Asian sauces that you can’t get anywhere else. We have a lot to offer. «
