Ashe’s family announced his passing on social media on Sept. 20, saying Dylan was in a car accident on Saturday night.

“He was kind, caring, and had a great smile,” Della Ashe, Dylan’s mother told northeastNOW.com. “Anytime he came home and before he left, he made sure to hug everyone. I’m overwhelmed with all the messages and support. I just wish it wasn’t needed and this morning didn’t happen.”

The Mustangs are sad to announce the passing of Defenceman Dylan Ashe. From our entire organization we would like to send our deepest sympathies and condolences to the Ashe family. You are in our thoughts and prayers. 💙💚 pic.twitter.com/efly9aDdwT

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Ashe family and everyone effected by the loss of Dylan.

Ashe buddy we were supposed to play Fortnite when you got back, I fell asleep waiting I woke up and my heart dropped, I love you man ❤️ from the bottom of my heart, I’m gonna miss you. You went way to soon. My condolences go out to you’re family.❤️ https://t.co/5fnnGmoDjI

Rest In Peace Dylan, you were the most caring and down to earth guy I’ve ever met. You had a smile that lit up the room buddy. I’ll never forget all of the memories and fun times we had together. I’m so glad to be able to call you my friend. Love you ❤️❤️ pic.twitter.com/5R4ilKfKC7

From Warman, Sask, Ashe split his 15-year-old season in 2017-18 with the Warman Wildcats in U18 AA hockey before joining the Trojans in AAA.

In 2018-19, Ashe found himself on the Trojans’ shutdown defensive pairing with captain Luke Arndt. He finished the season with one goal and seven assists in 31 games, with his highest accolade being named player of the game during the Trojans bronze medal win over the Calgary Buffaloes at the 2019 Telus Cup national midget championship. Ashe also made a presence in the community, participating in initiatives such as Walk a Mile in Her Shoes.

Ashe joined the Mustangs for his rookie season in the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League as a 17-year-old. He scored two goals and four assists in 46 games.
