OPP was responding to what they termed « serious » incident involving an armed and dangerous person in the area of Highway 33 and County Road 4 in Millhaven, on the evening of Thursday, Nov.. . 26, 2020.
Some reports from residents of the area suggest that the incident apparently began as a collision with a motor vehicle, in which a man with a gun got out of a vehicle and then discharged it. OPP has not confirmed these details.
Neighbors were asked to stay indoors for about an hour while a heavy police presence, including a K-9 unit, investigated the incident and searched for the suspect.
All roads in the area have been closed and the ferry to Amherst Island has stopped at Millhaven Dock as a precaution.
Just after 8 p.m.. m. OPP confirmed that they had taken the suspect into custody and that there was no further risk to public safety.
