VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – Power is back for about 62,000 customers in Vancouver who were affected by a substation issue Wednesday morning
The blackouts affected residents of the Kitsilano, Arbutus, Shaughnessy, Kerrisdale, Dunbar and Mount Pleasant areas for nearly an hour
« These are the customers who are supplied by our Sperling substation on Arbutus Street, » Mora Scott of BC Hydro told NEWS 1130 at around 9:30 amm
Scott said teams were working to determine the exact cause of the outage, but noted the goal was to try and restore power to the thousands of people affected first
Streetlights on and between major arteries were also affected by the blackouts, particularly along East Broadway to Main Street
