Windsor Police are appealing to the public for help after a child was injured and killed by a driver who hit and ran on Sunday night.
It happened shortly after 8:30. M. On Jefferson Boulevard near Haig Street. Emergency crews were sent to the site after receiving a report of a pedestrian collision. When the officers arrived, they observed emergency crews taking care of a child with life-threatening injuries. The child was taken to hospital, but he was not saved.
The Windsor Police Forensic Identification Unit and Collision Reconstruction Unit operated at the scene for several hours, according to Sgt Steve Petrridge..
The suspect vehicle is described as a silver SUV or crossover, and it likely has damage to the front end.
Peterridge said police are looking for the car and its driver. Several witnesses have been interviewed and security camera footage is being looked at, but police are looking for additional footage. Â The driver of the car is also required to call the police.
“Anyone who lives in the area or has been driving in the area around the time of the accident is required to review video surveillance,” Peterridge said..
