For the second time in so many nights, the Washington Capitals are in Buffalo to face the Sabers. With its shortened schedule for 56 divisions within divisions, the NHL seeks to keep COVID-19 at bay by having teams competing in a row in the same city.
These East Division rivals will provide an early test of this theory. Other consequences of playing against the same team on consecutive nights are that it can increase the intensity by building rivalries.

Overall, Washington is 12-4 in their last six games against Buffalo. Before the game on Thursday, Washington had beaten the puckline 1: 4 and 0: 5 in the last five street games.
