Cheltenham Town has reached a difficult form and Kevin Hatchard expects Manchester City in the form of FA City in FA Cup shows no mercy.

« Cheltenham don’t win games or many goals, while Manchester City have won nine straight wins and beat Birmingham 3-0 in the third round. »

Back Manchester City to to lead at HT and win by three or more goals on the same game multi of sports betting at 2.13

I am old enough to remember when the opponents of West Country, Cheltenham Town and Gloucester City on the were of the same level and were fighting for the rise of the Southern League Prime Minister, and I was at their last league meeting 24 years ago. Since Cheltenham won promotion at City’s expense late this season, the Tigers have been weakened and the Robins have fluttered into the Football League.

Cheltenham is well-established as a force in the EFL, and the former Robins defender , Michael Duff, does a good job with a gaming budget that is far from wasteful. Town is sixth in the second division, two points behind the other half of El Glosico, Forest Green Rovers. There are concerns right now though: Cheltenham haven’t won a game in 90 minutes since the first week of December, they have taken five points from their last six league games and they needed extra time to squeeze through their last two FA Cup games against Crewe and Mansfield. That win against Mansfield was their only win in their last five games at Jonny Rocks Stadium (it will always be Whaddon Road for me) so they’re not exactly prepared to upset the Manchester City superstars. The nadir was the concession of a goal from a midweek kick against Newport County.

The targets have dried up too. Cheltenham have only scored three goals in their last seven league games and only scored multiple goals in two of their last ten games. Hereford-born striker Andrew Williams is the top scorer with six goals.

Duff has always been a tough pragmatist as a player, and he’s no different as a manager. He accepts that his team is way below City’s standards and he has described this game as the ultimate free kick. As for team news, Chris Hussey is in doubt after a midweek hit, but Sean Long should be available again.

It wasn’t long ago that storm clouds began to gather over Etihad Stadium. There were debates about Pep Guardiola’s future at the club, a decrease in the intensity of the team’s pressure and the inability to clean a clean sheet. The citizens were hammered at the Leicester home, beaten in Tottenham and detained in Leeds and West Ham.

Football moves fast and within a few weeks much of that debate has been silenced. Guardiola has landed a new deal and the team have put together a run of nine straight wins in all competitions, with seven goals conceded.

While there is no doubt that City and Guardiola value the Premier League and Champions League above all else, their commitment to domestic cup competitions is admirable. You have reached the final of this year’s League Cup, won this tournament five times from 2014 and won the FA Cup in 2019.

There will be some rotation here, with Zack Steffen who is expected to start in goal and a group of young players who are pushing for starts, but I still expect a strong City line-up.

City have won the last seven FA Cup games against lower division opponents by a total of 26 goals to four, while Cheltenham have lost all eight FA Cup and League Cup games against opponents of the Premier League. Pep Guardiola picked an incredibly strong line-up for the third round in which City Steamroller Birmingham City won 3-0 and I expect a similar result here. Cheltenham is in bad shape and City has its old bragging rights back as well as a newfound solidity in defense.

We can use the same game multi of sports betting to support City, lead at half time and with three or more To win goals at combined odds of 2.13. Given City’s solidity, there is an argument to support them and to win at 4/5 to zero.

Since arriving from Valencia, the young Spanish international Ferran Torres has really stood out. He has a total of 11 goals for club and country, including a hat-trick against Germany for Spain. Keep an eye on the team news, but when Torres starts it will be worth it to be around 11/10 on the To Score market.

Back Manchester City to lead at HT and win by three or more goals in the same game multi of sports betting at 2.13. Back Ferran Torres to score at 11/10 (if he launches)
