The Cork footballer who broke Kerry’s heart last November is now an injury doubt for the start of the new Aussie Rules season.
Mark Keane underwent finger tendon surgery over the weekend, and his AFL Club Collingwood has announced that it will be on hiatus for « a month or two ».
The Magpies open their season with a Friday night fight against the Western Bulldogs at the MCG on March 19th.
Keane returned early back to training with Collingwood this month after returning from Ireland where he made a sensational impression for Sam Maguire in the 2020 race.

With the permission of his AFL employers to play for his hometown of Cork, he came off the bench in Páirc Uí Chaoimh to score the last second goal in extra time, the Munster’s semi-final win SFC brought – and sensationally knocked Kerry out of the championship.
Keane was also presented during the provincial final against Tipperary, but this time he couldn’t turn the tide as Cork suffered a shock defeat.
The 20-year-old has Impressed down under since signing for Collingwood and made his AFL debut with a senior game last year. That came against Freemantle on round 9 when he made seven exits and two tackles.
