Details emerged from the horrific accident on January 20th that paralyzed former NBA center Shawn Bradley.
Braldey was just one block from his house when he was hit by a car and in a parked car was driving, according to a report by USA Today police officers.
The Dodge van driver who met Bradley told police they gave him plenty of space.
« The V1 driver looked in the rearview mirror as he passed V2 (a Saturn) and saw the cyclist fly through the air and land on his back, « the report said. « The cyclist hit the driver’s rear bumper of V2, after which the bike and cyclist rode up the top of the trunk and the cyclist continued along the side of V1, causing scratches and multiple dents on V2. »
Bradley told police that he saw a car parked on his right and was preparing to pass it when the Dodge contacted him. Police, who received GPS information, found that Bradley never drove more than 14 mph and was slower at the time of the crash.
Bradley, number 2 in the 1993 NBA draft, underwent neck fusion surgery and has been in the hospital for the past two months to rehabilitate his injury.
